All cases against me have been disposed off, says CM Fadnavis

Mumbai: After being ranked as No.1 where criminal cases are concerned by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) report, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with 22 offences registered against him, told The Asian Age that no case was pending against him as all of them had been disposed off by the courts. None of the 22 cases related to moral turpitude or corruption, but were related to political agitations, morchas and rasta-roko demonstrations.

The ADR has analysed the data of criminal records and wealth of 31 CMs in India from their affidavits submitted to the election commission with the nomination form and declared a report about it on Tuesday. While Mr Fadnavis tops the criminal record with 22 cases, of which three were serious in nature, Kerala CM Pinarai Vijayan comes in second with 11 cases and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal trails to the third spot with third cases against him. 

 “Almost all cases registered against me have been over for more than three years. 

The court has disposed of these cases and I am relieved. There was nothing in those cases and they were political in nature. Not a single case was about corruption or moral turpitude. In political life, cases of agitations for public demands are obvious. So all these cases were registered for agitations, morchas and rasta Rokos,” said Mr Fadnavis. “

Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu has been ranked the richest with movable and immovable property worth Rs 177 crore, followed by Arunachal CM Prema Khandu with property worth Rs 129 core and the Punjab chief minister Captain Amarendra Singhat No. 3 with assets of Rs 48 crore. Mr Fadnavis’ assets are said to be worth Rs 4 crore 34 lakh at the time of filing nomination for elections in 2014. It is a ancestral property in which a house is also included. Fadnavis owns 1/3 share in this property along with other family members, sources said.
