City gears up for Valentine's Day
The day will start with a brunch at a hotel where we first saw each other, followed by a movie date and a shopping spree.
Mumbai: Couples are preparing for the Valentine’s Day on Wednesday by buying gifts for their loved ones. A popular trend this year has been to take the partner for a romantic candlelight dinner. While some have planned well in advance, many are choosing to go with the flow and decide on the spots that are less crowded, ensuring privacy.
A collegian, Pankaj Grover, said, “We have planned the whole day out. The day will start with a brunch at a hotel where we first saw each other, followed by a movie date and a shopping spree. We will end the day by having a meal at a fancy restaurant in Lower Parel.” Some of the romantic gestures that the couples planned for their V-day celebrations include a walk on the beach by the sunset, sitting at the Marine Drive to enjoy peace and privacy.
City-based gift shop owners are overwhelmed with the response. Jayesh Mehta, owner of an Archies Gallery said, “This time around the youngsters are more into gifting customised articles, to a give a personal touch, lowering the sale of cards.” Valentine’s Day is recognised as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance in many regions around the world. -
