Shiv Sena takes swipe at BJP on Hindu-Pak' remark
The BJP has sought an apology from Congress president Rahul Gandhi for Shashi Tharoor's Hindu Pakistan' remark.
Mumbai: The Shiv Sena has also jumped into the ‘Hindu Pakistan’ controversy by taking a swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party on Friday asked whether BJP president Amit Shah, while seeking an apology from the Congress on the remarks made by its MP Shashi Tharoor, would also apologise for the remark made by his party’s UP MLA that even Lord Ram cannot curb rapes.
The BJP has sought an apology from Congress president Rahul Gandhi for Shashi Tharoor’s ‘Hindu Pakistan’ remark. However, in its editorial in the Saamana, the party’s mouthpiece, the Sena stated that Mr Tharoor was only speaking the language of the BJP.
“The BJP wants Congress president Gandhi to apologise for Tharoor’s remarks. But one needs to understand that Tharoor is only speaking the language of the BJP. Tharoor said that if the BJP wins the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, India will become a ‘Hindu Pakistan.’ In short, if Narendra Modi is voted to power again, India will be declared a Hindu rashtra. This is the RSS’s agenda, which Tharoor has expressed from the Congress platform,” the Sena said.
Mr Tharoor, the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, had set off a political controversy on Wednesday when he remarked that if voted to power again, the BJP would rewrite the constitution and pave the way for the creation of a “Hindu Pakistan.” Following this, the BJP demanded an apology from Mr Gandhi for the “attack on Indian democracy and Hindus.”
Mr Surendra Narayan Singh, BJP MLA from Bairia in Uttar Pradesh, had recently said, “Bhagwan Ram bhi aa jaayenge, tab bhi balaatkaar ki ghatna par niyantran nahi ho paayegaa.”
