Each WR station will have suggestions from the station manager, Railway Police Force, railway public committees and the Member of Parliament as well.

Mumbai: Google Maps and photographs of the stations have been used to chalk out the future plan for each station on the Western Railway (WR). Similarly, each WR station will have suggestions from the station manager, Railway Police Force, railway public committees and the Member of Parliament as well.

Technology has been used extensively while making the report, as the railways wants to ensure that not even an inch of space is left unused. An official said, “We have used the pictures from Google Earth and Maps and have taken photographs of each station because a lot of times we don’t know if any space somewhere would be useful or can be used differently.”

Each of the 36 WR stations has not just been analysed but each plan has been vetted with the help of railway committees like the suburban and the zonal railway users consultative committee.

Speaking about WR’s massive report, the official said, “The extensive report is a compilation of 36 reports on each station and will be handed over to the general manager A.K. Gupta on Friday night.”
