Declare me legal heir, not step mom: Woman to Bombay HC
According to the petitioner, her stepmother did not divorce her former husband before getting married to her father.
Mumbai: A 23-year-old woman has approached the Bombay high court, seeking direction that she be declared the legal heir of her father and not her stepmother so that she can avail a job on compassionate grounds at her father’s place of work. According to the petitioner, her stepmother did not divorce her former husband before getting married to her father.
The division bench of justice Shantanu Kemkar and justice Rajesh Ketkar, which was hearing Harsha Kale’s petition, asked the union government to file a reply next Friday and also asked for Ms Kale’s representation to be considered and that she not be removed from her residence, which is at the staff quarters of the union government.
Ms Kale alleged that her father’s second marriage was null and void as, at the time of marriage, her stepmother had not divorced her first husband.
The court has kept the matter for further hearing on December 22.
