Chhota Shakeel's aide convicted for murder plan
The court has acquitted two other arrested accused in the case.
Mumbai: A sessions court on Thursday convicted a member of Chhota Shakeel’s gang for planning to kill D.K. Rao, a close aide of gangster Chhota Rajan, in 2014. The court has acquitted two other arrested accused in the case.
According to advocate O.A. Siddiqui, the court acquitted his client Akhtar Jaman Khan and another accused Ajmatullah Khan from the case, as the prosecution could not prove charges against them.
The sessions judge A.H. Laddhad sentenced Mohammed Mahir Kalbe Hussain Siddiqui to three years of imprisonment, which he has already undergone.
Public prosecutor Ash-wini Raykar had informed the court that the accused had planned to target Rao in sessions court premises, where he was to be brought for hearing from Taloja jail in neighbouring Navi Mumbai. Another member of Rajan’s gang As-hok Satardekar was also on their radar. However, the police foiled their plan with the arrest of trio in nick of time.
They had been booked under Indian Penal Code section 120(b) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
