27 villages to get municipal councils
Minister of State for Urban Development Ranjit Patil agreed that there has been delayed in the process of formation of municipal councils.
Mumbai: The state government has decided to set up independent municipal councils in 27 villages of Kalyan Dombivali. MoS Ranjit Patil announced in the legislative council on Wednesday. The state government had taken decision two years ago, but the Shiv Sena had opposed it.
NCP MLC Jagannath Shinde raised the issue of development of 27 villages brought under Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation. “The government had assured independent municipal council for these 27 villages. But nothing happened. The villages were brought under KDMC but their issues of development, civic facilities are in the dark. This needed to be fixed at earliest," said Mr Shinde.
Minister of State for Urban Development Ranjit Patil agreed that there has been delayed in the process of formation of municipal councils. “We have already given Rs 180 crore to these 27 villages. So the allegations of not paying attention to the villagers is not true,” said Mr Patil.
