Mumbai: The Forum for Fairness in Education has called for an agitation on May 21 at Azad Maidan to oppose the high-handedness and arbitrary actions of schools and the lack of any initiative from the government to curb commercialisation of education.

The forum is spearheading the agitation on behalf of parents from many schools and colleges in the state and has also started an online campaign to garner support as well as spread awareness of the protest.

According to Jayant Jain, president of FFE the government has failed to take any action against the rampant exploitation by schools and institutions offering medical, engineering and professional education. “Just arranging hearing of grievances of parents is an eye wash. Despite numerous hearings by various authorities and committees constituted by the government no order has been issued against even a single school, till date. It appears that the government is buying time to delay so that they can calm down the protesting parents,” said Jain.
