Mumbai conquers ICSE, ISC exams
13 who share top 3 positions in country belong to MMR and Thane.
MUMBAI: The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) on Monday declared the results of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC), class X and XII exams, respectively.
In the class X exams, Swayam Das of St. Mary’s Navi Mumbai, topped in the country with 99.40 per cent; followed by Anokhi Mehta of Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu, at second position; and Nidhi Dhanani of Vibgyor School, Goregaon, at third
position.
In the class XII exams, Abhijnan Chakraborty from Lilavatibai Podar topped with 99.50 per cent; and shares the position with Tansha Shah of the Cathedral and John Cannon School in south Mumbai.
Swayam’s teachers said, “We are not surprised looking at Swayam’s results. The boy is very sincere and hardworking.” Swayam’s parents cannot express how happy they are and have decided to let him choose his career after the ICSE exams.
The school principal of Anokhi Mehta, who is currently in China, Zeenat Bhojaboy, said, “Our average percentage this year is 89.89, which is almost 90 per cent, and this is what we are most happy about. Moreover, we are grateful to the council (CISCE) which changed several strategies for the betterment of students.”
Ananya Chakraborty, mother of ISC topper Abhijnan Chakraborty and a single parent, said, “He has always been a serious, no-nonsense kid. The kind of concentration he had is what gave him such a good percentage.” Meanwhile, Rewati Shitole, from Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane, who stood third all over the country in ISC, said, “I expected to get 97 per cent but when I saw it was 99 per cent, I started crying as I could not contain my excitement.” Rewati is the daughter of Bharat Shitole, additional collector of Raigad.
