Toppers disclose their ambitious future plans

MUMBAI: The thirteen students who find themselves sharing the top three positions in the country belong to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Thane. By making the country and city proud, the students now aim to have a bright future after their examinations.
While Abhijnan Chakraborty (18) from the Lilavatibai Podar who stood first in the country in class 12 by scoring a whopping 99.50 per cent, aims to do PhD in Chemistry, Vedika Manek (15) from St. Gregorious High School, Chembur who holds a third rank in class 10 board exams, wants to do Actuarial Science as she has an infinite love for the subject Mathematics and Statistics.
“He is very passionate about Chemistry and research so he plans to do research in Chemistry and wants a doctorate degree in the same,” said Ananya Chakraborty, mother of Abhijnan. The entire family moved to Mumbai two years ago from Kolkata. “Abhijnan's grandfather is very supportive and he wants to provide everything my son wants in life,” she added.
Abhijnan did not go to any coaching classes and studied by himself with the help of his teachers in schools. He wants to go to United Kingdom for his further studies.
Vedika Manek did not limit herself with studies instead involved herself with sports activities like swimming. “I believe in being consistent and there are certain things sports teach us so I started doing swimming frequently so that I can focus on things in a better manner,” Manek said. “When I saw my results, I did not believe what I saw! I expected my percent to be somewhere around 96 but 99 was like a surprise for me,” said Vedika, whose favourite subjects are Mathematics and Computer.
