MUMBAI: Students applying to junior colleges who might have committed errors in part one of the admission form, can now go to the centralised admission process (CAP) cell to rectify their mistakes.

Apart from the cell, which has been recently formed by the state education department, around 34 guidance centres have been set up in the city to help students fill up admission forms properly.

Part one of the admission form has details such as the student’s name, surname, parents’ name, contact details, school area, status, board, Class 10 or equivalent exam details, address for correspondence, reservation etc. Candidates can proceed to part two of the admission form, which is critical for FYJC admission, only after completion of part one. In part two, students have to enter the marks they obtained in Class 10, exam details, stream and order of preference of colleges.

Till last year, in the absence of this cell, many students suffered due to silly errors and spelling mistakes in their admission form, which they had to rectify after the college commenced. In order to help students with the admission process, the cell has been introduced, said officials of the state education department.

The CAP cell is located at the office of the deputy director of the state education department at Charni Road. According to officials of the department, the CAP cell will continue to function till the first merit list.

Talking about the guidance centres, officials said that there were centres in areas such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Charni Road, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Kurla, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Bhandup, Mulund, Bandra, Vile Parle, Andheri, Malad, Kandivali, Thane, Dombivali, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, Bhayander, Vashi, Belapur and Panvel. Students in doubt about the FYJC admission process could visit these centres. For details about their location, they can visit mumbai.11thadmission.net.
