Shivaji Nagar police nabs jewellery shop robbers in a week
Three police teams were formed to nab the accused who were traced within a week of the heist.
Mumbai: Two men have been arrested by Shivaji Nagar police for allegedly breaking in and robbing a jewellery shop of valuables worth Rs 2.36 crore within a week. The policehas simultaneously alerted all anti-robbery cells of police stations to detect such cases at the earliest, so that offenders are unable to get away with committing the crime.
According to sources, SagarJewellers located at Ambernath was looted by two masked men on October 8, who decamped with gold and silver bars worth Rs 2.36 crore.
The Shivaji Nagar police registered a case of robbery against unknown persons and initiated an investigation, which led them to the two accused, both residents of the city's northern suburbs. Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the jewellery shop helped the police in tracking down the accused
Three police teams were formed to nab the accused who were traced within a week of the heist. The police laid a trap and arrested the two men, identified as Vinod Singh (49) and ParasJubeliya (45). The police raided their homes separately and found the stolen valuables kept there. Cash and valuables worth Rs 1.70 crore have been recovered while the police is on the lookout for the rest of the booty.
With a rise in cases of robbery, the police has been asked to stay alert and detect such cases at the earliest so as to break the trend.
