Doctor's son under radar after vanishing act
The Kolhapur police arrested his parents a week ago for their alleged role for the sale of infants to childless clients.
Mumbai: Dr Rishikesh Arun Patil, the son of Kolhapur’s homeopath Dr Arun Patilwho was arrested by the police for his allegedly illegal procurement and sale of infants, has come under the probe’s scanner due to his unexplained disappearance after the arrest of his father and mother in the case, said sources. The police suspect he could have played a role in the crimes being attributed to his parents. The Kolhapur police arrested his parents a week ago for their alleged role for the sale of infants to childless clients.
The Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Dinesh Bari , said , “Dr Arun Patil’s son is under the scanner. We have been looking for him to see how he was involved. It’s a matter of investigation which is an underway.” He also said, “ The police produced Dr Patil, along with a Chandrapur-based couple who bought a baby from them, in court on Thursday.” Dr Bari said, “ Dr Patil and his wife might have sold more number of newborns. Considering the severity of the case and time sought by us, we were in need for further investigation, as his son is also absconding.”
The police are trying to reach to the their son Dr Rishikesh who is under scanner. A Kolhapur court extended the police custody of Dr Patil and his wife and the Chandrapur couple for seven days.
Dr Patil ran a general surgical and maternity hospital at Ichalkaranji- Kolhapur before a team from Central Adoption Resources Authority (CARA) and district women and child welfare officers raided the hospital last week and handed over the couple to the police.
