Cops nab, recover 75 litres of MD

Mumbai: In a major case of narcotics seizure by Mumbai police, the Amboli police arrested two men and recovered a total of 75 litres of mephedrone (MD), also known as ‘meow meow’, worth Rs 7.50 crore from them. In a separate operation, Mumbai police’s anti-narcotics cell seized a large amount of heroin and arrested a person from Rajasthan for smuggling it into Mumbai in a separate probe. The Bandra unit of ANC seized 4.1kg of heroin worth Rs 6.15 crore that is suspected to have been smuggled from across the border.
The special squad of Zone IX, headed by sub inspector Daya Nayak apprehended Shahid Hussain Sher Mohammad Shah, 27, who came with the banned contraband in Amboli on Sunday afternoon at around 1.35 pm. The police took him into custody and frisk checked him and found 300 grams of MD in his possession. The accused was booked and arrested in the drugs case by the Amboli police. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the said accused have been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
The Mumbai police’s ANCarrested one Mangilal Meghwal, 40, a native of Rajasthan, in possession of 4.1 kg heroin worth Rs 6.15 crore. A case has been registered and further investigation is being conducted.
