Vinod Tawde questions BJP-Cong scuffle

Mumbai: Vinod Tawde, cultural and education minister of state, has raised questions on the scuffle which allegedly took place between the BJP and Congress party workers near Borivali railway station Monday.

Mr Tawde has asked Urmila Matondkar — who claims to have joined the Congress due to suppression of the Constitutional right of freedom of speech and expression by the BJP government – as to why did the Congress party workers thrash youths who were only chanting the slogan “Modi Modi”. Isn’t that suppression of freedom to speech and expression, Mr Tawde has asked.

While speaking to the media at the BJP office in Mumbai, Mr Tawde said that in the morning during the rally of the Congress, some youths raised the slogan ‘Modi Modi’ but Congress workers started beating them. When Rahul Gandhi did not react to similar slogans raised in Pune, why was Matondkar not ready to listen, Mr Tawde questioned.

Mr Tawde said that a complaint had been registered with the Borivali police station about the scuffle. He also alleged that it was seen in the video footage how the Congress workers and local leaders were beating the common people and a girl and claimed that it was an unfortunate incident.

Mr Tawde said that no one would get votes by beating the common people. He also targeted Priyanka Gandhi saying that her grandmother had violated the Constitutional rights of citizens by imposing an emergency in the country.
