Mumbai: One more witness turned hostile in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh-Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case on Tuesday, taking the total number of such witnesses to 58.

Nizamuddin, a constable from Rajasthan, had stated earlier that on December 11, 2006, HSO Himmatsinh told him that SP Dinesh MN directed them to escort Tulsiram Prajapati to Ahmedabad.

They were asked to remain alert as Prajapati could try to escape from police custody. Nizamuddin had said that they reached Ahmedabad on December 11, 2006, and left for Rajasthan the same night after Prajapati was produced before the concerned court.

Prajapati was taken back to Rajasthan safely and made no attempt to escape from custody nor did anyone come to free him from the police.

Although Prajapati was killed in an encounter while being taken to another court at a later date the same month, Nizamuddin on Tuesday told the court that he did not remember who directed Himmatsinh to ask these policemen to escort Prajapati to Ahmedabad.

Since he contradicted his earlier statement, judge S.J. Sharma declared him hostile on the request of special public prosecutor, B.P. Raju.
