Pune: Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma had said that the government’s inaction despite the manner in which prices of petrol and diesel are going up while the value of rupee is going down is telling of the “monumental mismanagement under Narendra Modi”.

In a press conference in Pune on Monday, Mr Sharma said, “The international price of crude oil as higher even that during the UPA’s tenure but that government made sure that the common man wouldn’t get affected. But currently prices of petrol and diesel are high and the Centre talks about increased rates of crude oil in the international market. The high rates of fuel prices affect trade, farming and, thus, all aspects of people’s lives. But still, the government is not ready to work on it.”

Mr Sharma also criticised Mr Modi over “picking” Anil Ambani’s Reliance Defence as an offshoot partner for the Rafale deal.
