Model's body found inside bag in Malad

The police swung into action and tracked down a 20-year-old student who had killed the woman and dumped her body in the bushes at Malad.

Mumbai: The body of a model in her twenties was found dumped inside a travel bag in Malad on Sunday afternoon. The police swung into action and tracked down a 20-year-old student who had killed the woman and dumped her body in the bushes at Malad.

The arrested accused and the deceased were identified as Muzammil Sayyad and Manasi Dixit respectively, both residents of Andheri. The police zeroed in on Sayyad with the help of the CCTV camera footage of the spot, which had captured the accused person's face and the vehicle he used to reach the spot.

"Sayyad killed Dixit with a blunt object following a tiff and argument that got heated. He then stuffed her body in a bag and took a car and travelled for some distance. He then took an auto rickshaw and parked it. Following this he took a rickshaw to Mindspace in Malad and dumped the bag in the bushes,” said an officer of Bangur Nagar police station.

Sayyad was, however, captured by CCTV camera that was then looked into for further leads. The police went on to trace the car that led them to Sayyad. The police arrested him and is interrogating him on the motive. The police said that they would meet regularly.

Officials have informed Dixit's family about the incident. The family is on their way to Mumbai.

The police said that Sayyad hails from Hyderabad, whereas Dixit was a Rajasthan native. The body was sent for a post-mortem in Siddharth Hospital and the police has arrested Sayyad for murder as per the Indian Penal Code.
