Mumbai: Days after the heist at the Juinagar branch of the Bank of Baroda last weekend, in which the accused had broken 30 lockers to decamp with cash and valuables worth around Rs 3 crore, the affected locker-owners are ruing the lack of effective security system at the bank. The police are verifying alleged lapses on the part of the bank in ensuring bank security.

Surveillance expert, Mr Sunil R. Udupa, Chairman and Managing Director, Securens Systems Pvt. Ltd., said that, " There should be surveillance solutions which can help in deterring incidents. We strongly recommended Seismic sensors and PIR (Passive infrared sensor) solutions for such Z Zones. The most crucial surveillance measure is the Seismic Sensor at the vantage points, which can detect any security breach either by any minute audio, touch, vibration or hammering. It means if there were seismic sensors placed in the locker room, then vibration or hammering of the ground could have been detected and more importantly, with the help of active monitoring, the crime could have been prevented at that very second using video-verification and 2-way audio.
