Mumbai: Sarangi Mahajan, the wife of late Praveen Mahajan who killed senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan in 2006, has moved the high court seeking expedition of property dispute case pending in the Osmanabad civil court.

Prakash Mahajan, the brother of Pramod and Praveen, said, “Now, there will be no compromise with Sarangi, and we will fight the legal battle. They want to harass Mahajan family, so now we will ask in the court why Praveen killed his brother Pramod?”

Prakash Mahajan said, “There must have been some intention behind the killing Pramod Mahajan. The family of Praveen has no legal right as per section 25 of Hindu Succession Act on the ancestral property as Praveen was convicted for murder. We will raise this issue in the court.”

The dispute over Mahajan family’s ancestral property is being heard in the Osmanabad court since seven years. Pramod Mahajan had donated Osmanabad land admeasuring 4.5 acre to a college in the name of his father. The Tapaswi trust is running the college with the support of  MP Poonam Mahajan who is the daughter of the Pramod Mahajan. Sarangi and Prakash Mahajan want their share in the property, and the land is now vested in the name of Mahajan family members.

“Now. we have moved before the Aurangabad bench of Bombay high court to expedite the suit,” said Sarangi Mahajan.

Prakash Mahajan said, “We have decided 50-50 land distribution compromise formula, and the matter is kept for hearing on Saturday. But Sarangi has knocked the door of the high court and is levelling allegations. We will not agree to any compromise.”
