Youth arrested for raping 17-year-old girl, sharing video online

Mumbai: The Mumbai police has arrested an 18-year-old for allegedly raping and uploading an obscene video and pictures of his 17-year-old girlfriend because she refused to give into his demands to indulge in a physical relationship with him.

The accused allegedly took the young girl to a lodge in Central Mumbai, spiked her drink and raped her multiple times when she refused to have sex with him. He allegedly also clicked nude pictures of her, which he threatened to post on social media when she refused to meet him again.

According to the police, the first incident occurred on December 27, when the man invited the girl to a lodge stating that his friends were throwing a party. “After she reached, he offered her a spiked drink. He then raped her and then recorded a video and also clicked nude pictures of the girl,” said a police officer. The police add that he didn’t inform the girl about it and the drink left her with no memory of the incident. “Recently, in January, the accused invited the girl to the lodge again. But sensing something amiss, the teenager tried to break up with him. It was then that he told her that her he had videos and some pictures of her too. He showed it to her and told her that if she didn’t agree to his demands, he would post the same pictures on social media sites and spread it on chat sites,” the senior officer said.

Police sources revealed that the girl was raped twice in the same lodge on January 2 and 13. “But even then, the accused created a fake profile on a social networking site under the victim’s girl name and uploaded some pictures and videos. He also sent the video to some of his friends via WhatsSpp,” said an officer. Some of their mutual friends allegedly informed the girl about the account and pictures. “She then told her parents and approached the police and filed a complaint with them two days ago. After investigations we arrested the accused,” said the officer.
