Man who helped illegal aliens get aadhaar cards arrested

Navi Mumbai unit of the ATS had arrested the Bangladeshi nationals from Jui village in Raigad.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested a Kharghar resident who had allegedly helped five Bangladeshi nationals, who were nabbed earlier in Raigad on Tuesday for staying in India illegally and travelling without valid travel documents, procure Aadhaar and Permanent Account Number (PAN) cards illegally. 

The arrest was made after getting details on him from the earlier arrested accused. Acting on the tip-off, the Navi Mumbai unit of the ATS had arrested the Bangladeshi nationals from Jui village in the neighbouring district, according to an ATS source.

They were found in possession of original PAN and Aadhaar cards. Investigation revealed that the Kharghar resident had helped them get the cards. 

A trap was laid in Kharghar and the man was arrested on Thursday, he said. Citing the sensitivity of the case, the ATS source did not disclose the identity of the Kharghar resident, who is an Indian national. 

After the accused was produced in a local court on Thursday, he was remanded in police custody till March 21. The ATS was also probing possible terror angle in the case, the official said
