Mumbai: The Bandra police helped a 66-year-old Manipuri man reunite with his family in Imphal, 40 years after he went missing. The man identified as Khomdram Gambhir Singh, a former personnel of the para-military Manipur Rifles, was finally traced on the streets of Bandra.
The reunion was made possible due to an October 2017 Youtube video on Singh made by a city resident, which was seen recently by a political activist, Angellica Aribam. Aribam then shared the video on Twitter by tagging the Mumbai police and several political figures seeking help in reuniting him with his family.
After Aribam posted a picture by tagging the Mumbai police’s Twitter handle on Sunday about a video posted in October last year, the police immediately secured the man under their shelter. Soon after that, another user Atom Samarendra identified the man as his neighbour in Khumbong, and got in touch with Aribam. The Patsoi police station in Northeast India was contacted, and details about the man were given.
