Mumbai: The trustee of an Andheri school, who was accused of sexually assaulting a three-year-old minor in November 2016, surrendered before the Dindoshi court on Monday morning. He was remanded to judicial custody till April 21. On Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed a special leave petition filed by the trustee and asked him to surrender before theconcerned authorities within three days, which ended on Monday.

According to the police sources, the rape accused trustee-cum-founder surrendered before the additional sessions judge Smt Deo, in court room no 11 of the Dindoshi Court. At the time of the accused’s surrender, the co-accused teacher was also present in the court, wherein the Sessions Court framed the charges against them. As soon as the accused trustee surrendered himself, he was immediately taken into judicial custody. The court has kept his remand hearing on Saturday.

Milind Khetle, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Saki Naka division), who is handling the case after the Bombay high court transferred the case from MIDC police station, said, “The accused was given an ultimatum to surrender himself latest by Monday, failing which he will be arrested. Accordingly, he surrendered himself on Monday morning and he was sent to judicial custody.”

On April 2, the Bombay high court had rejected the French national's bail and asked him to surrender, but he managed to approach the apex court and get a breather from the arrest until April 13.

While cancelling the bail the HC also directed that the trial should be expeditiously concluded preferably within four months of passing this order because the child is very young and her memories would fade as she grows up.
