Mumbai: Lauding the Narendra Modi government for outlawing Triple Talaq and revoking Article 370 of the Constitution, Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Friday said that the prime minister was implementing Shiv Sena’s agenda on Kashmir, Triple Talaq and family planning.

The Sena spokesperson added that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would also be implemented across the country soon.

The Sena MP also backed the prime minister’s call for smaller families to tackle population growth in the country.

Mr Raut said, “Congress and other Opposition parties were accusing the government of not being able to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite their objections, the government revoked Article 370 as well as passed the Triple Talaq Bill. Now, bringing a uniform civil code has become just a formality in the country.”

It is to be noted that Sena had termed the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status for Jammu and Kashmir, as a ‘historic decision’.

The saffron party had also appealed to all parties in Lok Sabha to unanimously support the Bill revoking the Article in order to help the state join the main stream in true sense.

Modi government had abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5.

Furthermore, Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories — Ladakh without legislature and Jammu and Kashmir with the legislature.

The Rajya Sabha as well as the Lok Sabha passed the Bill with a thumping majority, with several regional parties backing the government.
