Traffic police DCP's pic used in fake story

The police is now investigating how and why his name was associated with the fake news.

Mumbai: Ashok Dudhe, DCP of the traffic police, was a victim of a fake news website that used his picture in a story about a person named Vihaan Patel, who “won the progressive jackpot at Grand Mondial Casino, cashing out on Rs 9,43,49,014 in a matter of five seconds”.

The fake news spread life wild fire on WhatsApp via Newsforver.net.

The police is now investigating how and why his name was associated with the fake news.

The fake article began with, “Mumbai police officer Vihaan Patel, 27, considers himself a simple man. He has a normal job and a loving wife. Just like any day, Vihaan showed up for his morning shift, but what happened on his break would change his life forever.”

Mr Dudhe said, “I am unaware about this and already a compliant regarding my identity has been made with the cyber police station. It will investigate and take action accordingly. It is all fake news… people should not be fooled by such things.”

Meanwhile, superintendent of police (cyber) Balsingh Rajput said, “We will take action against he culprit. The investigation is on.”
