BJYM leader launches campaign against discrimination
According to him, the move is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2017 slogan, Sankalp Se Siddhi Tak.
Mumbai: In a bid to eliminate casteism in society, Mumbai president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Mohit Kamboj, has changed his surname ‘Kamboj’ to ‘Bharatiya’. He has launched a campaign against regionalism, religion and casteism through the Proud Bharatiya Foundation, which was inaugurated Thursday in the city.
According to him, the move is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2017 slogan, Sankalp Se Siddhi Tak. Kamboj will appeal to the youth to drop their surnames. He will also file a PIL in Bombay high court in this connection. However, he said that he was not against any caste, religion or region.
“Sankalp Se Siddhi Tak” is an integrated scheme initiated by the Union government for the betterment of the nation. This scheme is a part of the New India Movement.
According to Kamboj, this is an apolitical forum which has nothing to do with his party. On this occasion, he also adopted 35 orphans. These children will use Bharatiya as surname their whole life.
“The foundation will take care of all the children’s education expenses till they want to study,” the BJYM chief said.
About his ordeals in Mumbai, he said, "I was born in Punjab, completed my studies in Varanasi, and since 2002, I am in the city. But due to caste, I encountered several problems.” Like him, many others faced similar problems, he said.
Kamboj said, “Discrimination is the biggest evil stopping India from achieving greatness. In today’s day and time, discrimination has no place in our society and must not be tolerated. However, we are accustomed to it and tend to take it lightly. The discriminators and the victims need to know that it is a crime against humanity and has no place in our society. It needs to be stopped, and if you’ve been a victim, you don’t have to live with it.”
