Mumbai: Members of the Thane tree authority have requested the court to pass orders and directions to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) with regard to their disqualification after the tree authority was dissolved. The authority members prayed that if the committee is dissolved, they should not be disqualified from applying when the new committee is formed. Some developers who claimed that their projects were held up due to the proposal by the TMC to dissolve the current tree authority sought directions from the court to direct the new authority to consider the inspection procedure that had been undertaken by them for cutting trees previously and not seek a fresh procedure as the process was lengthy and would affect their projects which come under the MahaRERA rules.

While making submissions for the committee members in the current tree authority of Thane which is likely to be dissolved, the advocate representing six corporators who are on the current committee said that the ouster should not be treated as a disqualification.

“Some members on the current committee are there as per the norms and they have the required qualifications. However, after the dissolution of the committee they should not be disqualified from applying to be on the committee again,” said the advocate.
