13-year-old raped by two minor boys is 2 months pregnant

Mumbai: A 13-year-old girl with learning disability was allegedly raped by two minor boys at Katkarwadi, Khalapur in Raigad district and is now two months pregnant. The Khalapur police registered an FIR on Tuesday and managed to arrest the two boys, 15 and 16 years old respectively, on the same day. According to the cops, the rapes occurred when the girl’s parents were not at home.

After raping the girl, one of the accused narrated the incident to the second accused, who also raped her after barging into her residence, the police said. The girl had been allegedly threatened by the two accused with dire consequences if she resisted.

The incident came to light after the girl’s parents discovered that she was  pregnant. Following a complaint by the girl’s mother, a case has been registered under IPC sections dealing with rape, criminal intimidation and also the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the two minors.

Senior police inspector of Khalapur, Jameel Shaikh said, “The incident took place in July. The girl’s parents work in a kiln and the victim was alone at home when the crime happened. The two boys took advantage of the situation and threatened to kill her and throw her pieces of her body into the jungle. Thus petrified, the girl kept mum,” he said.

Medical tests have revealed that the girl is now two months pregnant. Currently, she has been admitted to the Alibaug hospital for further medical evaluation after directions from the court.

After registering the crime, the police began searching for the two boys and nabbed them the same day. Both the accused, who are minors, were planning to flee, but were arrested just in time. Meanwhile, security in the village has been tightened and extra police personnel have been deployed as a precautionary measure.
