Mumbai-Goa cruise to start sailing soon

Mumbai: The Mumbai-Goa cruise service will start by October 24. It possesses unique life rafts at 18 points in order to ensure the safety of onboard passengers in case of an emergency. Cruise lovers will have to shell out Rs 6,000 to stay in a dormitory while the highest cost for couple rooms which will be Rs 10,000 person. There are eight categories of rooms and 104 rooms on the entire cruise. More importantly, it has its internal sewage treatment plant. Thus, the waste released will not be entering the sea waters.
“We have worked closely with improvement of the ship with several trial runs, it took two years to refurbish the 20-year-old Japanese ship,” said Leena Kamat, director of Angriya Sea Eagle Limited. The cruise has been named after the 17th century Maratha admiral, Kanhoji Angre who defended the Konkan coastline from the Europeans. Acco-rding to the company, the cruise will have a lifeline to 30 years from now.
Mumbaikars can book the tickets online through www.angriyacruises.com from October 24. “The tickets through agents or directly will have to be booked through our website as of now. The cost per person for dormitory rooms will be Rs 6,000 including meals, while per person cost for couple rooms is Rs 10,000 which is the highest,” added Ms Kamat. The cruise will leave from the domestic terminal at around 4.30 pm and it will reach Goa the next day by 9 am.
