No leads in 25-year-old physio's rape and murder
The police will now match the grab with footage from acquired from the ATMs in the area.
Mumbai: Despite releasing the picture of a man roaming in the vicinity of the 25-year-old physiotherapist on the night she was allegedly raped and murdered, the police have failed to crack the case. The police said, “the picture of the man is unclear and was captured from the CCTV which was installed few metres away from the victim’s house. The police added that the man could also be someone who used the ATM on the night of the crime. The police will now match the grab with footage from acquired from the ATMs in the area.
Nearly a month after a 25-year-old physiotherapist was found raped and murdered in her house, the police had acquired a still of a man roaming near the crime spot through CCTV camera installed in the area. The physiotherapist was staying alone in her flat and was found dead on December 7. The victim had allegedly returned from a party and was dropped home by her sister and sister’s friend. Despite questioning physiotherapist’s boyfriend and her sister along with 400 other people, the police have not been able to find any leads in the case.
The police has examined over 38 CCTV cameras and found a CCTV footage of a man roaming in the area at about 2:30 pm, the time when the crime reportedly took place. “We examined the recordings of all CCTV’s installed in the 2-kilometre radius of the girl’s house. While initially, we didn’t find anything, recently a CCTV recording showed a picture of a man roaming near the house of the victim,” said a source in Vile Parel police station.
