Mumbai:  Gudi Padwa was observed with gaiety and enthusiasm across the city with processions taken out by several Hindu and social organisations, in which thousands participated. The women were clad in the traditional nauvari sari, feta (turban) and nath (nose ring), while the men were seen in dhotis, kurtas, turbans and Kolhapuri chappals. Since it is considered to be a very auspicious day in the Hindu calendar, jewellery and sweet shops did roaring business. These processions were organised at Girgaon, Dadar, Goregaon and Thane.
