Goa CM was first victim of Rafale scam, says Jitendra Awhad

He also claimed that Mr Parrikar decided to return to Goa soon after the alleged scam was exposed.

Mumbai: The politics over the death of Goa chief ministed Manohar Parrikar has begun. NCP leader Jitendra Awhad Monday claimed that Mr Parrikar was the first victim of the Rafale scam. He also claimed that Mr Parrikar decided to return to Goa soon after the alleged scam was exposed.

Mr Awhad, who is known for his controversial comments, stood by his statement as true while clarifying that “we should not speak ill about the dead”. He said that when the Rafale scam became a hot topic, Mr Parrikar felt uneasy.

He understood that he could not bear the politics of Delhi and decided to become the chief minister of Goa. Many a time, Mr Parrikar shared his feelings with his close friends. Mr Awhad claimed that he was the first victim of Rafale.

Sunday evening, the Goa CM passed away. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer. The Centre announced national mourning day Monday, March 18. Also, the Goa government announced a sevenday mourning after his death.
