Will build ramp to new Marine Drive: Suresh Prabhu
Prabhu was responding to questions about Gadkari's plan for a structure surpassing the Burj Khalifa.
Mumbai: A day after Union minister Nitin Gadkari said that he would like to build a monument taller than the Burj Khalifa, Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu has said that he will build a ramp towards the proposed Marine Drive between Mazgaon and Wadala if commuters on the CST-Panvel elevated corridor want to access it.
Mr Prabhu was responding to questions about Mr Gadkari’s plan for a structure surpassing the Burj Khalifa. “That is a small change that we can make anytime. All we have to do is create a ramp probably between the CST-Wadala section of the elevated Panvel corridor. If we work together, people can accomplish anything which includes state planning bodies as well as mass transit like the railways and tomorrow, even the Metro,” he said.
Mr Gadkari had on his visit to Mumbai on Wednesday said that he would like to call the building Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Tower in honour of the 17th century Maratha warrior. Mr Gadkari had said that he would like the first 30 floors to be reserved for a convention centre, the next 30 for restaurants, and another set of 30 floors for hotels, 20 floors for malls only, along with many floors underground as parking space.
