Modi's presser was Maun Ki Baat: Raj Thackeray

Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray Saturday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s press conference on the last day of the election campaign and called it “Maun ki baat”.

Mr Thackeray taunted that the PM’s press conference was the talk of the entire nation. The PM, who otherwise speaks a lot at public rallies, was tight-lipped during the entire press conference. The PM was accompanied by BJP president Amit Shah and it was Shah who gave all the answers.

The MNS chief, in a tweet from his official account Saturday, called the press conference “Maun ki baat”. Mr Thackeray said that when the PM did not address a single press conference in five years, why did he hold one where he did not speak.

Mr Thackeray went on to tell a Marathi news website that the ruling dispensation had accepted defeat.

Calling himself a “disciplined soldier of the party” and describing the conference as officially that of BJP president Amit Shah, who was sitting beside him, Mr Modi tactfully directed queries to the party president.

In his first conference, Mr Modi reiterated that the BJP-led NDA government would come to power with an “absolute majority for the second consecutive time” and that the entire campaigning remained amazing and elections were held with a positive spirit.

“A government with full majority will come back after remaining in power for five years, the Prime Minister said.

 This is probably happening after a very long time. This is a big deal in itself,” the Prime Minister said. He said his entire campaign, which began on March 28, was basically a thank you campaign, seeking the people’s blessings and support to continue the work started by his government.
