Mumbai: Mumbai Congress leader and former Cabinet minister Naseem Khan on Tuesday, found himself mired in a controversy over a video clip. In the clip, people are seen showering him with money.

Mr Khan has been slammed by the opposition for the incident, even though he clarified that the workers of Ganesh mandals showered the money.

The video clip, which went viral on Tuesday, shows Mr Khan quite happy with the money being showered on him by two other persons. The video clip was shown on many Marathi news channels and also shared on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

The opposition slammed Mr Khan for the act. “Mahatma Gandhiji had said that Congress need to be dissolved. These leaders are acting as per Gandhiji’s words,” said Sudhir Mungantiwar, state finance minister.

Mr Khan said that, “It was the Ganesh mandal of the Bhanushali community. When they began to shower money I objected, but the workers insisted. I remained silent thinking that it might be a tradition of this community. Had I objected, it would have hurt more people. As they showered the money on me, how can I be blamed for it.”
