Mumbai: A special NIA court on Saturday reserved order on the bail plea filed by Kalyan youth Areeb Majeed after hearing NIA’s reply, till November 23. The NIA has opposed the bail application saying that Majeed’s bail and discharge application have been rejected in the past and that there are serious allegations against him. The NIA counsel argued before the special judge V. P. Avhad that there are serious charges against Majeed, including waging war against an Asiatic country with friendly ties with India. The lawyer told the court that Majeed had also filed a discharge application but the court rejected it. The NIA contended that the serious charges, due to which his bail application was rejected earlier, are still there and hence he should not be released.

Majeed has sought bail on the grounds that Section 20 (being member of a terrorist organisation) of UAPA has been removed against him and hence the other sections also do not survive as he has been charged for committing crimes as a member of a terrorist organisation.
