First-ever fast local train to halt at Diva station gets flagged off
CR has decided to halt 12 Up and 12 Down fast local trains at Diva station, with the process starting on Sunday.
Mumbai: The first fast local train to halt at Diva station was flagged off by Kalyan Member of Parliament Dr Srikant Shinde at 6.55 am on Sunday. The long wait of commuters from Diva to have a fast local train on the suburban train service will come to an end on Monday as Central Railway (CR) will halt fast local trains at this station. CR has decided to halt 12 Up and 12 Down fast local trains at Diva station, with the process starting on Sunday.
This decision will provide relief to the residents of Diva, and the people there are happy that the number of accidents and the usual heavy rush of commuters is now expected to reduce. Due to the heavy population in the area, there has of late been a significant rise in the number of passengers taking local trains from this station. A number of housing projects coming up in the Diva area has only added to the crowds.
The first fast Karjat-bound local train leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) at 6.10 am arrived at Diva at 6.57 am, while the CST-bound Karjat local leaving Karjat at 5.53 AM will arrive at Diva at 6.55 am, a railway release said.
