Mumbai: The police has identified four suspects in Sunday evening’s triple murder case at Bhandup with the help of CCTV camera footage which captured the murderers escaping after committing the crime.
A hawker Abdul Ali Khan (50) and his two sons, Shahbaz (25) and Shahdab (28), were grievously injured Sunday evening after a fight broke out at about 5.30pm over parking of vegetable carts. The incident occurred when the vendors were setting up their business for the day. They were rushed to Mulund civil hospital where they were declared dead. Mr Shahdab was rushed to Fortis Hospital but he died eventually.
The four accused persons, all vegetable vendors, fled the scene after the murder. They are likely to have gone to their native place and hence, teams have been sent outside the state, including to Uttar Pradesh, to track them down. Officials said that the families of the accused and the deceased are neighbours and that their residences are located a few metres away from the scene of the crime.
A senior police officer said, “There were fights between the two families in the past too. The accused are all from the same family and they haven’t been seen following the incident.”
The incident took place at Jhakaria Compound, behind Jhakaria mosque in Sonapur area of Bhandup. The police has registered a FIR and a search is on to trace the absconding accused. Statements of witnesses are being recorded. The police is also probing other angles apart from the squabble over parking of handcarts.
