NCP welcomes SC ruling On 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case
NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said, We welcome the decision of the Supreme Court.
Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court ruling in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case, and demanded that BJP leader and union minister Uma Bharti be sacked from the cabinet.
NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said, “We welcome the decision of the Supreme Court. In the wake of it, Bharti must be sacked from the (union) ministry.” The BJP top brass including L.K. Advani, M.M. Joshi and Bharti will be tried for criminal conspiracy in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case as SC on Wednesday allowed the CBI plea to restore charges against them. The apex court however noted that Rajasthan governor Kalyan Singh enjoyed Constitutional immunity and could be tried only after he ceased to hold office. Singh was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1992. "Even Singh has no moral right to continue in a Constitutional position like that of a governor and must step down to face the charges,” said Malik. However, when asked, Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam said, “Since it is a national issue, I will have to check. I am sure the party will come out with the stand.”
Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi termed the Babri Masjid demolition as “more serious” than the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and tweeted, “Babri Masjid demolition which (is) more serious than the M.K. Gandhi killing is not yet decided.”
