Govindas to play by rules on age, height

Mumbai: ‘Govindas’ in the city will obey rules and maintain the height limit and age restriction during the Dahi Handi festival this year. While most are keen to toe the line, the Jai Jawan Govinda Pathak said they were waiting for their petition to be heard on August 1, after which they would have some clarity on the status of their participation in the festival.

The pathak, which shares the world record for erecting the highest human pyramid of nine tiers with a Spanish group, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court last year and the case is still pending. Sandip Dhawle, Pathak’s coach said that they are hoping for some relaxation in the restrictions from the court.
