Mumbai: Over 3,083 first year junior college (FYJC) students who are still left without a seat even after four merit rounds and one special rounds will now have to secure admissions on ‘first come, first serve’ basis.

If a student with lesser percentage takes the same seat, which a student with higher percentage needs, it cannot be helped as this is first come, first served round. The students should do complete this procedure only after checking the vacant seats in the colleges on those specific dates given by the department. All of these students will now have to apply online at mumbai.11thadmission.net or directly visit the School Education and Sports department’s website.

The admissions will be phase-wise which will be open for students with above 80 per cent on Day One. On Day Two, students with 60 per cent to 80 per cent can go in for the procedure. On the third day or the last day, it will be thrown open for the students below 60 percentage under all the category.

The state’s school education department have come up with this first come, first served policy idea for the first time which was earlier ‘offline admissions’ after the four merit rounds. However, the department scrapped the offline system of admissions in order to prevent under the table money transactions and donation systems and to maintain a clean admission process from this academic year 2017-18.
