Mumbai: Following the direction by the Bombay high court to the University of Mumbai (MU) to allow students to avail extra supplements during the examinations, the varsity has now tweaked its online assessment system.

As part of the upgradation, the system can scan extra supplements, streamline it and upload the answer scripts for assessment. It will avoid the confusion of repetition of the papers that were present earlier. The attachments like graph paper, drawing papers or blank supplement will be assessed manually as these cannot be detected in the system.

“Around four days ago before the high court judgment, we had decided to reject all the applications that had come to us asking to provide extra supplements,” said a senior MU official. He added, “But after the HC order, we cannot say no. Hence, after talking to the technical department and the system officials of the online assessment, we upgraded it in such a way that it can now scan the additional or extra supplements.”
