Mumbai: After the successful implementation of Maths, Science, English and Finance Olympiads in all the civic schools as a pilot project, the Brihanmum-bai Municipal Corpora-tion (BMC) education department is all set to turn the project permanent for the students of Classes 1 to 9 from the next academic year i.e., 2018-19.

“The reason we started with the pilot was the uncertainty we had with the idea, as it involved international level Olympiads and we felt our students would find it difficult to cope up with. However, when we saw our children actively participating in the training sessions with intent to learn new things, we decided to take the project forward as a full time thing along with the regular curriculum,” Prakash Charate, deputy education officer of BMC told The Asian Age.

From the coming academic year, 200 students will be selected from each grade, from Class 1 to 7 across civic schools in the city. In case of the Class 8 and 9 students, 300 students each will be included from all over the city.
