Docs to be on hand for emergencies
The arrangements on race day consists of a total of 1 lakh, 35 thousand litres of water that would be distributed through 25 water stations.
Mumbai: The Asian Heart Institute (AHI) will be the medical partner for the Mumbai Marathon along with the state and civic-run hospitals. Around 108 ambulances will be deployed for emergencies this year. Participants, who are in need of an emergency, will be tracked by trans-telephonic ECG monitoring technology, which will transfer the runner’s ECG directly to the doctor’s smartphone.
Participants will have access to medical facilities round the clock with medicos being available at 12 medical stations, including two base camps, along with eight ambulances. In all, 350 doctors will be on duty during the marathon. The two base camps will comprise of 40 and 20 beds respectively, along with 500 volunteers from AHI, including 200 para medical staff.

Like every year, we are well equipped to handle any kind of medical emergency in the shortest time possible. The whole team of AHI is more than glad to contribute state-of-the-art facilities and services for the marathoners.”

There will also be eight energy drink stations, 11 Cool Sponge stations and 11 Orange stations (providing slivers of orange and salt) to help the marathoners remain hydrated during the run.
