Congress to kick off final phase of Sangharsh Yatra

Mumbai: The Congress is beginning the sixth and last leg of its ‘Jan Sangharsh Yatra’ campaign to highlight the “failure of the chief minister Devendra Fadnavis-led government on Monday (January 21) from the Konkan region of the state. The party, which has so far covered 29 districts in the state, will cover Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad and Thane next.
The Congress will rake up the issues of the food processing units for mangos and cashews, the loss of local employment opportunities and the alleged failure to develop the Konkan as a tourism destination, among others, before the public.
Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said that the party would inform the people on how the Konkan region had not been developed in the last five years of the BJP-Shiv Sena government. “This government has failed to develop the Konkan as a tourist destination. Local employment opportunities have not been generated. The people have been forced to leave their homes in search of livelihood in urban areas,” he said.
The party had covered western Maharashtra, north Maharashtra, Marathwada, Amravati and Nagpur in last five phases of the yatra.
