It's a board exam not a life exam, say teachers

Mumbai: Teachers and counsellors have advised students appearing for their Class 12 board examinations to relax their minds and shared some tips on how to cope with the stress. Students go through a lot of things before and during the examination so teachers and counsellors advise them to relax and breathe.

“It is just a board examination, not your life examination so students, and especially parents, need to calm down,” says Rukmini Shrivastava, a senior teacher. “The stress a student goes through has an even greater impact on their life than parents imagine,” she said. According to her, students need to follow the instructions given by their schools and colleges and act accordingly in order to have a smooth exam.

“Students should avoid studying or revising an hour prior to the examination as it causes stress,” she said.

On the other hand, counsellors feel exam tips should be given to the parents instead of students. Dr Anjali Naik, a child physiologist said, “Parents’ expectation and constant pressure causes anxiety in the child which disturbs their mental state. So, they need to be told that the board exam is just another exam so stop making a fuss about it.”
