Mumbai: The Mumbai Housing Development Authority (Mhada) will take stringent action against its own officers in cases of illegal constructions found in Mhada colonies.

It has been repeatedly seen that the residents of Mumbai Housing Development Authority  colonies carry out illegal construction for the sake of interior development or in the name of renovation work. “No action was taken against residents for illegal constructions as the responsibility to take action was not decided. In order to streamline this mechanism, it was decided in the last board meeting that the responsibility to take action against illegal constructions will be assigned to Mhada engineers,” said an official from Mhada.

“If no action is taken against the persons involved in illegal construction by our officials, we will take action against responsible officers,” said Madhu Chavan, president, Mumbai board chairman, Mumbai Housing Development Authority.
