Bmc education dept to train teachers for upgraded class 10 syllabus

Mumbai: To keep pace with the change in the Class 10 syllabus introduced by the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research, also known as Balbharti, the education department of the BMC is providing training to civic teachers and has also upgraded the tabs given to students.

There are 161 civic schools in Mumbai with Class 10 with more than 522 teachers. “Since April, we have started our training sessions for teachers where trainers are sent by the state government. The syllabus has undergone several changes this time and hence, it is new for both teachers and students,” said a senior official of the department who looks after higher secondary education.

For students, existing tabs are being provided, but with the updated syllabus. “We changed the memory cards in those tabs with new ones and provided them to the children on the first day of school (June 15),” the official said. He said that Class 10 students weak in academics will be given extra lectures after school hours or on holidays.
