Radio channel hits back at BMC with a new video
The video for the song was shot on a water-logged road and the radio channel's staff was seen singing on a boat.
Mumbai: In the wake of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) taking exception to radio personality Malishka Mendonsa mocking it for its lack of preparedness for the monsoon in a song, the RJ and her colleagues hit back at the civic body with a new tune, which went viral on Thursday.
The new song draws attention to water-logged streets and choked drains in the city with the onset of monsoon. Though the song does not feature Malishka, it begins with references to the previous viral song, which drew flak from the Shiv Sena and led to the issuance of a notice to her mother after ‘mosquito-breeding spots’ were found at her residence. Meanwhile, the RJ took another dig at BMC on Thursday, tweeting that she was ready with six more songs.
The new song features the lyrics ‘Sonu tuje RJ par bharosa nahi kya?’ (Sonu don’t you have faith in RJ). Reacting to this, Shiv Sena group leader Yashwant Jadhav said that the BMC would take action if it feels the song is tainting its image. “Everyone has the freedom to express their views. They are exercising their freedom. If the BMC thinks that their songs are tainting its image, it should take the necessary action,” said Mr Jadhav.
The video for the song was shot on a water-logged road and the radio channel’s staff was seen singing on a boat. The video slammed the civic body once again for bad roads, potholes, choked nullahs and so on. Meanwhile, Malishka hit back at the BMC through a tweet that read; “6 songs composed and ready in my head and they are NOT about New York. I’m a rapper now. Also a breeder apparently and back soon (sic).”
She was referring to the BMC slapping a notice on her apartment in Bandra after potential mosquito breeding spot was allegedly discovered in her premises. The notice was sent to the RJ’s mother, Lily Mendonsa, on Wednesday, which warned her of legal action.
Five key lines from the jingle:
Sadke ye teri saari broke-broke
Galiyonki naliyan bhi choke-choke
RJ kobolne se mat rokh
Sadkon meutri apni boat-boat
Kaam meteri khot-khot
(All your roads are broken,
Thenullahs of lanes are choked too,
don’t stop the RJ from speaking up.
We are up here on road with a boat,
Because your works are flawed)
